Internet Security Enhanced at Regency Student Housing

Denver, Colorado, August 11, 2009 - While connected to the internet, students and staff at Regency Student Housing now have the benefit of increased security and protection on their personal computers. This added security is a result of network design enhancements implemented by Advance IT Solutions in the Regency Student Housing’s North Building. These enhancements eliminated intermittent system-wide outages due to security protocol violations. Increased individual network security was created through the installation of Cisco software and hardware, enabling virtual private networks for each room in the building.

The network was designed to improve the reliability of the network infrastructure and to maximize the throughput of Comcast Cable Modem connectivity to the internet. A firewall, DHCP server, Cisco router, and switches for each floor enable remote monitoring of the network. Downtimes can now be isolated to individual rooms. Cable modems are also continuously monitored and notifications are sent if a modem drops from service.
